Change of itinerary

Yesterday I was reviewing the hotels I booked last September and was horrified to learn that the Apex in Edinburgh was almost £400 per night. I thought it was half that.

So I looked for one near Waverley station that was a better price: The Ibis would save over £300, then I studied the walk from the station to the hotel only to discover it included a flight of 79 steps, and I am not good on steps especially going down. It was possible to avoid the steps by taking a detour up the second steepest road in the city.

So I'm going to stay in Dundee (DEE), where I lived for some time while at university. In those days Queens College was part of St Andrews University, in '67 or '68 it became University of Dundee.

Looking at Google maps the city has completely changed. I don't recognise any roads and only one or two old buildings, but then they'd say the same of me wouldn't they?

I've changed my hotel booking and now will reserve some train seats. the day out from Dundee won't be  Aberdeen but Inverness (INV), a much nicer city and a more scenic rail journey.
